A NEW URBAN BLOCK
FOR FOOTBALL AND MULTIFUNCTIONAL ACTIVITIES

The facility has a seating capacity of 15,000 spectators, both covered and seated, and is intended for football, seen as an activity capable of bringing together functions and tensions of high urban and social value. The capacity is conceived in a dynamic and flexible way, since it is possible to increase the number of seats up to 20,000 by setting up four corner stands with a capacity of 1,250 seats each in the spaces already provided.

The geometric lines that generate the project express the desire to provide the facility with a clarity and recognisability of sectors and accesses that are more difficult to achieve in sports facilities with a ring-shaped configuration.

The project foresees the placement of the playing field at a height of +7.20 metres above ground level, with a single row of rectilinear grandstands, set at a height of +3.00 metres above the field and parallel to it, creating a compact interior space.

The moat, in addition to guaranteeing safety, allows for natural lighting and ventilation of the spaces located underneath the playing field, which is raised above the context, so as to fulfil the function of covering the building below.

This choice makes it possible to have a container space at ground level, allowing greater articulation of routes and activities, to the benefit of the management and safety of the individual functional areas.

The spaces made available by the absence of corner joints between the orthogonal stands lend themselves to a variety of uses. Here are four glazed volumes with a view of the pitch, in which to locate restaurant, office and business areas.

The project pursues the idea of a stadium-building, electing a new urban block, recognised by the community as a flywheel for redevelopment and enhancement activities in the contemporary city.
